Friday Night Video

You don't really see old school stadium concerts anymore---at least not on the scale that Queen did back in 1986 with their Magic Tour, a 26-gig tour of Europe's stadiums which drew over 1,000,000 people. Insane. As it turned out, the Magic Tour would be Queen's last tour with lead singer Freddie Mercury. He was diagnosed with AIDS in 1987 and died in 1991. It takes a big voice and big personality to play to a packed stadium like Wembley, and there may not have been a bigger personality than Mercury. The following video begins with Freddie doing a fascinating bit of call and response with the audience, followed by the familiar opening notes of Under Pressure...notes which even Vanilla Ice couldn't totally destroy.
