Friday Night Video

It's taken me a long, long time to clue in to the musical genius that is Lady Gaga, but now that I'm there I'm never leaving. Let's leave out the peculiar fact that I've now choreographed my own dance number to "Just Dance" and instead focus on her immense talent. In the midst of her outlandish fashion choices and her carefully orchestrated sex appeal, it's easy to lose sight of the fact that once you strip away all the stylized trimmings, there is one hell of a musician underneath it all (not unlike a certain 80's rock star routinely mentioned on this blog).

The acoustic version of "Paparazzi" in the video below is pretty much definitive proof that Lady Gaga is not just a pretty face who knows how to work the angles as well as Madonna once did. Her powerful voice and virtuoso piano skills are on full display, and I defy you to not be mesmerized.

Very talented indeed, however I don't think she was ever considered a pretty face...

I wasn't mesmerized. Do I win something?

Whatever moderate level of skill she displays here is not nearly enough to make up for the hell she inflicts on me when the bodega radios play her robotic, charmless music.

And finally, to quote Chris Rock: Take off that silly-ass hat!
