Oh my, goth.

Quick---someone get me a Comedy Central development executive. I have a fucking unbelievable pitch for a show. Nan---gonna need you as a technical consultant, okay?

Spain's Goth First Daughters Embarrass, Embarrassed By Dad

Update: Didn't realize it, but this was actually taken at The Met last week. I foresee a large set of Met-related media clips tomorrow. Good luck with that, Terry.

Do I just not understand what goth is? All I see is little girls wearing black--with unfortunate tastes in shoe wear. Evidently, this picture is quite the deal in Spain...so clearly I'm just not comprehending the controversy.

Hey, Bubbles.

(#371 on the list of things I'd one day hoped to say to a girl)

Technically speaking, I don't see much of a controversy either. I think it's a funny picture only because of the sharp contrast in styles. What's unfortunate (and inevitable) is the ridicule the girls have gotten...which is a great argument for using Spain as the model for how we shield the children of political leaders from the wolves of the 24/7 media cycle. Spain simply doesn't allow it---so this is the first picture of the children to be widely (accidentally) disseminated.

I know...it is highly sad that they are being placed under such ridicule. Being a teenage girl is definitely hard enough without a country full of adult critics.
